Primrose Trail Group Members help out at the Wye Valley Workcamp

Members of the Primrose Trail group attended a volunteer workcamp to assist Greenways and Cycleroutes with the construction of the Wye Valley Greenway – a shared use path along an old railway line between Chepstow and Tintern.

During the week, 91 volunteers put in 235 working days. 61 were day visitors, and 30 stayed overnight in tents and vans and chalets.

The workcamp was based at the National Diving and Activity Centre at Tidenham, near Chepstow, and the aim of the week was to repair a bridge and install and replace boundary fencing on the former railway line as preparation for further development of the route.

Our Primrose Trail representatives were very excited to experience a workcamp, and found it incredibly inspiring to witness the progress that could be made with a group of keen and enthusiastic volunteers from the local community.
